Breakfast – The word literally means to “break the fast” of the night by giving your body the fuel it needs for the day. Unfortunately, many people choose to skip breakfast or will consume something inadequate, such as only a cup of coffee or a muffin. Because it sets the tone for your day, eating breakfast may be the single most important thing you do to improve body composition, control cravings and avoid irritability & low performance.
Eating a Low-carb breakfasts and low-carb diets are especially important for those who are trying to lose body fat. Consuming a sugary breakfast will make your blood sugar sky-rocket, then within an hour or so it will sharply drop causing to want more sugar. This roller coaster effect on your blood sugar is disastrous if your trying to lose body fat – eating a protein based breakfast allows for a slow and steady rise in blood sugar, coupled with some healthy smart fats that allows the blood sugar to remain stable for an extended period of time. Not only that, you breakfast programs your neurotransmitters in your brain for the day – in other words eating a sugary breakfast will make you crave sugars for the day. Breakfast is always the first thing I will change in a clients nutrition plan as 95% of people get it wrong! I always get the same look when i explain why they should eat meat for breakfast but those who follow it always get the best results both in terms of fat loss and energy levels.
